I'm a monkey level electronic hobbyist. I learned how to make PCBs but I use Raspberry Pi (mini Linux computer) and ESP32 (a microcontroller w/WiFi and Bluetooth built-in) for IoT projects. I highly recommend Ardunio/Uno if you know absolutely nothing, especially if you're coming from a high-level area of programming.
